Dubai cracks down on 'multi-family' villas

Dubai Municipality is to spread its campaign against "multi-family villas" to all areas of the Emirate.

The campaign is active in the Rashidiya area, and eviction notices have been given to families staying in villas there, according to Omar Mohammed Abdul Rahman, Head of Building Inspection Section, Buildings Department.

Badrah is the second residential district to be announced within Waterfront, an entirely new city masterplanned from scratch in 'new Dubai’ and follows the hugely successful Veneto launch earlier in the month.

Badrah will be the first active gateway to Waterfront. Located along the Sheikh Zayed Road, it borders Jebel Ali Free Zone and will be close to Dubai’s new international airport.

Slow drivers 'not being fined'

Dubai: Plans to implement a minimum speed limit on Dubai's roads have gone down the drain because of friction between the authorities responsible for implementing the decision, Gulf News has learnt.

Early last year the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) introduced a minimum speed limit of 60 km/h on roads, which have a maximum speed limit of 100km/h and above but this has not yet been implemented.

FNC demands equal treatment for Emiratis at US ports

Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) demanded today that Emiratis receive the same treatment Americans get at UAE ports.

Mohammad Abdullah Ali Al Zaabi, a member from Sharjah, questioned the Foreign Ministry over the treatment received by Emiratis who travel to the US for study, treatment or tourism.

Free wi-fi for passengers at Abu Dhabi airport

Abu Dhabi: Free wi-fi access to the internet will be made available for passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport from June 1, according to Abu Dhabi Airports Company, the owner-operator of the airport.

The move to provide free wi-fi for all passengers using facilities at Abu Dhabi will put the airport amongst a select group worldwide who do not charge for such services.
